Nestled between the Blue Ridge and Great Smokey Mountain ranges, the Hickory Nut Gorge was formed by the Rocky Broad River. Beginning in the higher elevations as a stream, the river winds its way down through the rocky cliffs to the sparkling waters of Lake Lure. This fourteen-mile long canyon encompasses the four picturesque townships of Gerton, Bat Cave, Chimney Rock Village and Lake Lure. All along the way are quaint shops, unique restaurants and scenic places to explore.
Hickory Nut Gorge has always been a beautiful, peaceful and friendly place to live and work, or to enjoy a second home on the lake or in the mountains. The spectacular scenery, recreational choices, and convenient location to nearby cities make this area some of the most desirable real estate in Western North Carolina.
